Due to rainfall, there is too much slush on the ice to build the cribs for 2019. You can sign up for next years event by going to the last event page.
Great news and a great opportunity for divers and non-divers alike. Devil’s Lake State Park and the Sauk County Fish Biologist are now working on a fish crib project. The permits have been requested for 2019 and 2020. Here’s our chance to improve the fish ecology for Devil’s Lake. If you have experience building cribs, or just want to help please sign up on line with the Fish Crib Project event.
Cribs are constructed on the ice and fall into place once the thaw hits. It is a great way to get out of the house and get some exercise. The park has fresh timber and ballast available. We are waiting on the permit approvals with the DNR and then lock in some dates before the ice starts thinning. During the summer dive teams will reconnoiter other potential sites for next year’s cribs. Divers can then see the impact of adding these features to our lakes and offers you a special role in improving the lake ecology. If you have other questions, contact Eric at firstname.lastname@example.org.
